Basseterre looking to bag the Racing Plus-Buy It Every Saturday Handicap in his second career start
Kempton will host the Racing Plus-Buy It Every Saturday Handicap (London Mile Qualifier) today, 11th April, 2012. This prestigious event will cover a distance of 1 mile on a surface that has been labelled standard, where the
ten runners will compete for a purse of £4,075.
Basseterre performed in an outstanding manner in his seasonal debut, demonstrating his potential in the first race of his career.
The three-year-old colt is trained by Charles Hills, for owners H. R. Mould. Teamed with jockey, Michael Hills, the son of Cape Cross, out of Higher Love, triumphed in the Marsh Green Maiden Stakes at Lingfield on 21st January,
2012. He finished the race 1 length ahead of Scatter Dice.
California English, the three-year-bay gelding will compete in his seasonal debut today.
The son of Oasis Dream, out of mare Muwali, finished as a runner-up in the E.B.F Mirror Punters Club Maiden Stakes (Div I) at Wolverhampton on 19th November, 2011.
Teamed with Chris Catlin, the Marco Botti trained gelding tried his level best, but fell 2 lengths behind the winner Prince Alzain.
He downed a victory in the Betdaq Multiples/British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes at Kempton on 14th December, 2011, where he raced as a favourite with the odds of 11 to 8 and defeated, Fortieth And Fifth, by 3 ½ lengths.
This victory at Kempton will work in his favour with his familiarity with the track.
Kinloch Castle, son of Echo Of Light, out of mare Sound Of Sleat, is also in very good form. Trained by Mark Johnston for owner Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, he has the stamina to make it through the track and claim a placed finish.
The three-year-old bay colt raced as a favourite with the odds of 4 to 11 in the Visit Attheraces.com/Breederscup Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Southwell on 3rd
November, 2011.
Coupled with jockey Silvestre De Sousa, he owned the track and cross the wire first, a large margin of 7 lengths ahead of Ishiamiracle.
Breaking from post 6, Basseterre is speculated to emerge victorious from this race. His maiden was promising and with his form, he has many victories in his future.
California English also looks in extremely good form and may give, Basseterre, something to worry about on the track. He may finish second, closely behind Basseterre, whereas Kinloch Castle may secure third place.
