http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374: Bayern Munich need to forget Monchengladbach defeat
Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has urged his teammates to forget what happened last week and focus on the coming assignment. Munich lost at home to last year’s relegation contenders, Borussia Monchengladbach. at Allianz Arena in their opening
game on Sunday.
It was confusion between the newly recruited goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 and defender Jerome Boateng that led to the Foals scoring the only goal of the game in the 62nd minute.
The midfielder told that each side has an off day and unfortunately it turned out that way for Bayern on Sunday. He reckoned that there are a number of new signings who need some time to gel, which was probably the reason behind the Bavarians being off colour.
He defended his shot-stopper, Neuer, saying that the 25-year-old will make a strong comeback against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 in the next game. The German international urged his side to concentrate hard on the upcoming assignments and start winning games, unlike the
last season where Munich ended up without any silverware.
Schweinsteiger also took part in Germany’s 3-2 victory over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 on Wednesday in an international friendly. The 27-year-old scored the opening goal for his country in that game. He believes that Bayern have class to challenge any opposition and is confident
about his team’s chances when they visit Volkswagen Arena on Saturday.
While talking to a local news channel, the midfielder enthused, "We need to play more as a team. That was our problem during the start of last season. We must not make the mistake again: you need to have a good team spirit in order to succeed in football."
It was the first time since 1995 that Monchengladbach defeated Bayern at the Allianz Arena. The Bavarians coach, Jupp Heynckes, regarded Sunday’s defeat as an unfortunate incident and was hopeful of making a strong return in their next game away from home.
Schweinsteiger joined Bayern Munich youth setup in 2002 and has 250 league appearances under his belt so far, netting 26 goals in return. He has 88 international caps to his name until now to go along with his 22 goals.
