The Bayern Munich midfielder has insisted that the first-half would decide the game when his side takes on Real Madrid in the second-leg.
The Reds have the chance to become the first team to play in a Champions League final at their home ground. If they beat Real Madrid in the second-leg of the Champions League semi-final, they will play the final at the Allianz
Arena.
Schweinsteiger claimed that Bayern need to be cautious throughout the course of 90 minutes as Madrid are very strong when attacking. The midfielder added that the players are determined to win the game and will fight to get a favourable
result.
The German international has admitted that Bayern cannot afford any more bookings as up to seven players are facing suspension if they are booked in the second-leg of the Champions League semi-final tie.
“The first 20 minutes are sure to be intense and we have to hold firm and avoid conceding. All of us will be putting everything into challenges, we just have to avoid picking up silly yellow cards,” he was quoted as saying in an
interview.
On the other hand, the Bavarian stressed on the importance of scoring in the early stages of the game. He insisted that if Bayern find the net early on, it will certainly put pressure on the home side and they will make mistakes.
Schweinsteiger claimed that it will not be an easy game by any means as Jose Mourinho’s team have been in sensational form throughout the season and are one of the favourites to win this season’s competition.
“I expect that we will have to score a goal - and we will. A game like this is a highlight of the season. You work towards it the whole season and it was something that also motivated me while I was out of action,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich need a draw to progress through to the final whereas a 1-0 would mean that Real Madrid progress on the away goals rule. It will definitely be a mouthwatering clash and the fans will witness two of the best teams in
Europe against each other on Wednesday night.
