Bastian Schweinsteiger insists Bayern Munich are still favourites to win the Bundesliga title
Bayern Munich midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374 has insisted that his side is still the favourite to win the Bundesliga title at the end of the campaign despite the disappointing loss to Hannover this past weekend. He stated that
his side was unlucky to lose against Mirko Slomka’s side and is confident of returning strongly next week.
Die Bayern suffered their second defeat in the league this season after they lost their season opener to Borussia Monchengladbach at Allianz Arena. The loss ended the club’s 13 match unbeaten run in all competitions. The club still
lead the Bundesliga standings table with 22 points from 10 games played with seven wins and two losses.
Schweinsteiger claimed that Bayern played very well in the match and blamed poor refereeing decisions for the defeat. He insisted that the team failed to convert the opportunities coming their way and were very unlucky. Bayern
had most of the chances to score throughout the match but were denied by the post a couple of times.
“We played really well. Even with ten-men we had chances to win the match. We hit the crossbar, the post and had four or five big opportunities. We were just missing that little bit of luck. Even I was unlucky when I clipped the
post just before the end of the match. We had to have scored at least once or twice more. We've got to accept the blame for that,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to Bundesliga.de.
The German international admitted that the club has to stay on track and cannot afford to be complacent. He insisted that Bayern are still one of the favourites to win the Bundesliga and wants the impressive performances to continue.
“No. We played well and will continue to stay on track. We shouldn't continually talk about the title instead we need to take it game by game,” the midfielder concluded.
Bayern Munich will next place FC Ingolstadt 04 in a German Cup clash on Wednesday before hosting http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday in the league. They will be aiming to secure their eight win in the Bundesliga against
Nuremberg.
