The Bayern Munich midfielder feels honoured to be compared with the Barcelona duo but insists he is different.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374 has thanked Bayern Munich manager, Jupp Heynckes, for comparing him with Andres Iniesta and Xavi, but the German feels that he is different to the Barcelona stars.
Schweinsteiger hailed the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 duo as the best midfielders in the game, but he believes that their playing style is different to him. The 27-year-old believes that Xavi and Iniesta win the ball with their feet, while he relies
on his strong physical stature to get the ball. He stated that it is lot easier for him to win high balls, and his physical nature of play makes tackling easier for him compared to the duo.
While talking to the official Bayern website, the 27-year-old German added,
"They're both terrific players, no question about that. But I regard myself as a little bit different, especially in physical terms. I do win a few balls in the air, simply due to my physical stature. And I also come up with different
solutions compared to them. But obviously, I know what Jupp is trying to say."
Heynckes recently compared his midfield asset to one of the best pairing in the modern day football.
Schweinsteiger has undoubtedly been one of the most influential performers for the former German Champions. The central midfielder has missed a handful of matches of late, after he injured himself in a UEFA Champions League game
against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003. The Bavarians have not been the same without him, as they lost three matches last month.
The German international is set to return to action after the winter break, and Bayern would certainly welcome him back, as they continue their pursuit of a famous treble. Jupp Heynckes’ side currently top the league table, and
have qualified for the knockout rounds of the Champions League and DFB-Pokal.
Schweinsteiger has appeared in only 11 games this season, bagging two goals and three assists during the process.
Bayern will face Borussia Monchengladbach in their next game on Friday, January 20.
