and Andres Iniesta.
The German international reckons that the duo form one of the greatest partnerships on the pitch, and there is lot of hard work to be done in order to match the levels of the two Spaniards. He feels that his side needs to match
the level of Barcelona before any comparisons are to be made.
Schweinsteiger added that his side has set sights on winning the UEFA Champions League this season. He stated that most of the Bayern players will be categorised amongst the big names once they are able to beat the European champions
and become the best in the business.
While talking to Goal.com, the 27-year-old further mentioned:
“Xavi and Iniesta are great players. They play for the best team in the world. And we will try to beat the best team in the world. And when we beat the best team of the world, maybe then some Bayern Munich players will be among
the best in the world."
On the other hand, he also commented on his team’s 4-0 victory over the Indian national side on Tuesday, January 10. He expressed his delight at his team’s performance, but, at the same time reserved praise for the hosts on their
second-half display. He wished to see the Indian team growing in the years to come.
"The match was good. The stadium was not full but the crowd was very loud. The Indian team, especially in the second half, was good. We didn’t get to stay here for long as we generally spent our time on tour. But we had a good
time. Everybody was nice to us and everything was great,” the midfielder concluded.
Schweinsteiger has been absent from action since the past two months due to a collar-bone fracture, but has fully recovered and raring to take the field. The German international will return to action against Borussia Monchengladbach
on Friday, January 20, after the winter break.
