Bated Breath, Sole Power and Ortensia to compete in the King’s Stand Stakes at the Royal Ascot
23 runners have been confirmed to run in the 5 furlong long Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot on 19th June, 2012, including Bated Breath, who is under the training of Roger Charlton.
The trainer mentioned earlier that, Bated Breath, might not compete in the King’s Stand Stakes because of the soft surface of the track, instead he would compete in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes against Black Caviar on 23rd June,
giving the ground a chance to dry out.
Just to be safe, Bated Breath still holds an entry in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, if the ground remains too soft for his liking.
Ortensia, trained by Paul Messara, will also be competing in this event, and chances are that she will add another victory to her current record.
The seven-year-old mare claimed three consecutive victories, and she looks in good enough form to claim a fourth one.
The bay mare has stirred significant amount of interest from the market based on her victory at Meydan in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored By Emirates NBD in March, 2012, where she defeated the Edward Lynam trained, Sole Power.
It looks like the rivalry will be renewed since, Sole Power, will also compete in this event.
Sole Power, son of Kyllachy out of mare Demerger, is in good form, but was dethroned by Bated Breath in the five furlong Group 2 Betfred.com Temple Stakes at Haydock on 26th May,
2012, which he won in 2011.
Foreign runners, Wizz Kid, Joy And Fun and Little Bridge from Hong Kong are also of interest, and making this line-up more interesting.
Little Bridge, son of Faltaat, out of mare Golden Rose, trained by C.S. Shum is entering this race with the hope of completing his hat-trick.

This is the first time he will be racing outside of his home-track of Sha Tin, Hong Kong.
Based on the way he ran in the six furlong Group 2 Sprint Cup on 29th April, 2012, things are looking up for him, as he claimed a victory over Leading City by ¾ of a length.
