My children are 5 and 6. Bath time still concerns me. When do you actually feel comfortable to leave the bathroom even briefly whilst your kids are having a bath? I am worried if i leave my kids something bad might happen.

  1. Leave the bathroom when you feel comfortable with it and not a second sooner.

I will leave my 2 year old for a couple seconds if I'm on the same floor, and can hear him (to get him a towel or grab a favourite toy from his room). It is not a regular thing. I'm literally only a couple feet away. I agree with everyone else that as long as you can easily hear them, it's ok at the ages your kids are.

I still sit with my 9 year old once in a while (she pulls the curtain across), not because of any fears, but because she likes to talk to me. It has been our bonding time (probably because brother and sister have to stay out).

  2. i think it totally depends on the kid. my daughter is 5 and i will leave her alone for short periods of time....but she sings alot so, if i don't hear her, i check on her. only you will know if its safe to trust your child alone... if it makes you the least bit uncomfortable, don't do it!

  3. my 7 year old baths unsupervised

and with my almost 3 year old i use the time shes in there to tidy up which involves walking past the bathroom door every few seconds so i know shes ok but i wouldnt leave her for more then a minute just to be safe

  4. When my toddlers (3, 3 &4yo) are in the bathroom, I do our washing, or bath their younger brothers.

I don't tend to go too far away (the laundry is right next door to the bathroom). Drowning is a big issue in childhood, and I don't feel comfortable leaving them for longer than it takes to empty the washing machine (completely in hearing range)

I think if your not comfortable leaving them in the bath, don't leave them along. They will be having showers soon, and not wanting you there, so enjoy them while they are still young.

  5. Well, at that age its OK to let them play amongst themselves in the bath. Just be really close by, attentive, and have them both in he tub at once, so if something does happen to one of them (heaven forbid), the other one will let you know.

  6. I wouldn't. Not that i have kids, but they are unpredictable, I think they need supervision. You can make it fun by chatting to them.

  7. My daughter is 2 and a half and I feel confident to be in and out of the bathroom supervising her, as long as I can hear her voice I know she is ok. I will probably let her bath unsupervised around 4 years old, when she can swim
