Bathing 5 week old puppy?

I have a 5 week old puppy and I was wondering how old he should be before I start bathing him.

Would I be able to use one of these products yet:

And when I can start using a flea powder shampoo or collar?

Thanks ahead of time. :)

  1. ya it looks good to me if i were you i'd take the puppy to the petco just to ask a specialist so it doesnt hurt your puppy's eyes

  2. you can bath the puppy now . just watch that you don't get water in his or her nose . sometimes the flea collar does work.

  3. go to a good pedist doctor and u should bathing with warm water...........nt too

  4. 6 weeks for flea shampoo but read the label

  5. you can bathe him, and you can use the products but you have to be very careful because you have to make sure the shampoo doen't get into your puppies eyes. And i would recommend that you use puppy shampoo.

  6. um i bet you could start bathing him. put him in the sink and what Ever you do...always hold him and don't let him drowned! i think the product will be fine to use on him

  7. i would not ever recommend using a flea powder shampoo or collar simply b/c none are effective. the collar treats fleas only in the area that it touches. get frontline or comfortis etc from your vet. as far as bathing him you can bathe him now as long as you are using puppy shampoo.

  8. now is fine, but bath him in a sink with low warm water.

    Good Luck With Puppy!!!

    Lucy.

  9.   I think you should wait till he is about 8 weeks old, just to be on the safe side. When u bathe him, make sure you don't get water anywhere near his ears (as it could cause him a lot of irritation or also ear infections) or any shampoo near his eyes.

Since he's only a puupy,i would recommend not starting him off on dog shampoos right away as they tend to be slightly harsh for a puppy's sensitive skin.Instead, try bathing him with something very gentle like Pears or Dove soap or Johnsons baby shampoo.

Don't use a flea collar yet, wait till he's about 5months old. Also, don't use a flea powder yet as he may end up l*****g it off and could get seriusly ill.Instead, try using a fine toothed comb to remove his fleas.

Have fun with your new puppy! :) I bet he's just adorable!

  10. you can bathe the puppy in a sink with warm water, just use a very low concentration of soap (preferably baby shampoo) about a 1/4 of what you would use on a toddler diluted in a bucket of water. use a washcloth to apply, make sure you're very careful around the puppy's eyes, and rinse the fur throughly. when you're done dry the puppy and make sure she's warm, you don't want a sick puppy! good luck!

  11. If you have no proper reason (fur full of fleas, dirt) you shouldn't bath your puppy till 6 months of his age. Sounds weird, but that's it. If you're forced to bath him, use just water. If it's very dirty, well, you have to use a shampoo.

If he's got fleas use spray (frontline f.e.), it can be used on puppies after 2 days of age.

Collars and spot-ons are feasible from 8th week.

    Good luck with new pup:)
