Question:

Bathing Bloo?

I have a parakeet named Bloo, and I have an orange bath that she bathes in. But recently, she's gotten too big for it. She can still fit in it but she can't move around a lot. But whenever I take her to the bathroom (it has a big mirror so she likes that) and turn on the sink, she freaks out. I want her to get used to the sink because I want her the bathe in it. Latley, when I turn the faucet on at a small stream, she's ok with that but she doesn't go in. How do I get her to bathe? Also, sometimes when she's standing on her perch, she would "wag" her tail. What does that mean?

  1. DO NOT drop it in boiling water, don't listen to the other person, dropping it in boiling water will cause it to get some SERIOUS burns and it will most likely die from being cooked! Just how when you put crabs in boiling water they get cooked.

If you would like your bird to bathe, it is not used to the tap yet and thinks it is one scarey place! So maybe try a few times and do not force her to go in, maybe every couple of days put the running water on not too much, also put the orange bath in there also to make her think that its bath time adn not to be afraid so she will get used to going in there, but when she has and is not afraid of the sink take the orange bath away.

If you would like to try another alternative i reccomend spraying her with mist. You just buy a $2 mist sprayer at your local pet store or any other place that may sell it and put some

warm(not too warm though!) water in. then place her on a perch above an area that can be cleaned later and spray her all around but not in her face, for that area is delicate. She will love it! But if she is afraid at first that's okay, my birds were too. So introduce it slowly by trying every few days and talk to her kindly and sweetly to make her think that it is not harmful that is our aim.

I hope this helped you and

    Goodluck!

  2. Try putting her orange bath in the sink with water for awhile.  Don't have the water running though.
