I collected a dog from a rescue centre yesterday. I was told that on Wednesday she had an injection. I was told not to bath her for 3 days. Does anyone know why this is?? Thanks

  1. it could be the dog was treated for fleas & ticks with front line after this is applied it takes it 3 days to be absorbed into the blood stream so when the flea or tick bites the dog it will die. and yes the flea or tick has to bite the dog for this to be affective.we put this on our dogs.

  2. It is probably to let the injection site to heal. And to not get it wet.

  3. An injection only or an injection plus a spay surgery?

  4. Depends what the injection was for,if it was to teat infestation of fleas or tics for example you may be advised not to bath her, this would give chance for treatment to work and then when you do bath her the dead insects would wash away. why not phone and ask them they're sure to help and would tell you what she was treated for.

  5. If it was just a normal booster or other injection I do not see why this might be however as some Pesticides (flea and tick treatments) are still legally injected under the surface of the skin in the U.S. and parts of Europe then this may be the reason why as the chemicals released when bathed in warm water could be poisonous to the dog and the humans around it.
