  1. YOU NEVER BATH A HAMSTER!!! unless it has something toxic on itself like toxic paint that it cant clean off.  Hmasters bathe themselves  and are very senseitive .

if your sisters hamster stinks I suggest you clean the caghe more often because thats what will be causing the smell.  when  I clean my hamsters cage reguraly I actually enjoy their little smell.

edit:in the case you do have toxic something on your hamsters, you dont use shampoo.  you carefully was the toxic stuff off in lukwarm water not getting ANY water on its face at all!!!!!  do notr use shampoo unless the water isnt working then you use baby shampoo or a shampoo specificly for hamsters

  2. u know there is this spray shampoo i use it on my hamster it works so good even though you resolved it already

  3. YOU SHOULD NEVER BATHE A HAMSTER IT CAN GET REALY COLD AND DIE I HAVE A SYARIAN MALE HAMSER TOO AND THE VET SAID THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER BATHE ONE!!!

  4. hamster/small animal shampoo

    or use chinchilla dust bath

its found at pet smart pet express etc...

check out http://www.hamsterhideout.com/accessorie... for information on hamster baths

  5. You should never bathe a hamster in water. Iff you feel like your hamsters fur is oily, or she smell, you can buy(from a pet store) a sand bathe for rodents. This takes the oil out of their skin.

  6. you can't give a hamster a bath!!!!!!!!

it can get wet tail and die...

i really hope i helped you lol

    God Bless

  7. You could use  a hamster fur spray. It's easier than bathing a hamster.

  8. Bathing removes natural and oils from the hamster’s coat, which can cause the hamster to catch a cold and die.

Bathing should only be done in exceptional conditions like if your hamster has toxic stuff on his/her fur. A hamster will clean itself if it is dirty and the substance is non-toxic. Chinchilla sand will keep the coat clean and grease free. I have a Chinchilla and a hamster so I use bath sand for both of them. I got a hamster bath at petsmart. Also if you want the scent I use special vanilla bean dust bath. Also I have this special spray for Small and Furry animals that smells amazing, here are links to get it,     http://www.petco.com/product/104006/Trop...   and also this,   http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... sprays not shampoos and this,   http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... and this is the sand i use it is more like sand not dust like it says http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... and if you get that you will need this, http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js... Hope I helped!

  9. WHAT?! You never are supposed to bathe a hamster! They clean themselves. Do clean the hamsters cage once or twice a week no matter how bad it may smell.  If you dont clean the hamster cage then you should not own a hamster. It is responsibility and the hamster can get deathly sick. Hope this helps! PS: It also causes STRESS

  10. Don't ever put them in water!

I wouldn't suggest spraying your hamster with that because I would think it would just make him an oily mess.

Also, I wouldn't suggest letting your hamster roll in chinchilla dust either. To keep themselves clean, Chinchillas secrete an oil naturally and then they roll in the sand so that the sand absorbs the extra oil and they stay clean.

The Chinchilla sand would probably absorb all of the oil out of the hamster's fur and he would end up itchy, which is what happens to chinchillas if they over-bathe.

You can try chinchilla sand but do indeed make sure that you have chinchilla SAND and not chinchilla DUST. Chinchilla DUST can cause serious respiratory problems in hamsters.

Your hamster should just clean himself naturally, and if he has stopped doing this himself, you should probably take him to see a vet.

  11. DON'T under any circumstances bath the hamster.  If it smells then wipe it with a baby wipe.  How bad can it stink?  It is so small.  If you bath her you will stress her out and she may go into shock or have a heart attack and die.

  12. chinchilla SAND only - NEVER EVER USE DUST!!!!!

Dust is to fine and causes respiratory problems.

Stinky hamsters are normally the result of the cage not being kept clean enough and the smell getting on the hamster or an ill hamster.
