I am planning a trip to Rome on spring break with students who study Latin. Are the Baths of Caracalla or the Baths of Diocletian better to visit for students?

  1. The Baths of Caracalla are really a beautiful spectacle; your students really shouldn't miss seeing them. As a testament to the past, the city of Rome itself is a wonderful locale, although nowhere is the concept of the extraordinary in everyday life better shown than at the Baths of Caracalla, I think.

I hope you and your students enjoy the trip!

  2. but y not both?

anyways, if u are really to choose, then diocletian's will be the right choice:a part of them has been transformed by michelangelo into a church, la basilica di santa maria degli angeli, and the other part hosts a bueatiful museum of roman history. of course also caracalla's baths are impressive, but there u will be left alone to explain things to your students and catch their attention: "only" ruins are left.

but really i hope u will find the time for both, they are quite near to metro stops!

    enjoy!

  3. I'll add that these Wikipedia links are excellent:

    Have a great trip!
