  1. Linus ... wow how helpful

replace the diverter or take it apart and possibly replace a washer in it, without knowing the type of diverter it is hard to help much, you could find a picture on line and resend question  if you wanted more help

  2. The shower valve that I have is a temptrol and it is supposed to have a trickle of water coming out of it while you have the water coming out of the shower head. What kind of valve do you have?

  3. The diverter valve is probably failing.  If it is part of the spout you fix it by replacing the spout with a new one.  If it is a separate valve with it's own handle you need to replace that valve.

  4. A trip to the local hardware store to buy a cheap replacement tub faucet spout will do the trick.  NOT the "thingy" that the shower water comes out of but the "thingy" that the tub water comes out of.  It should be able to be easily counter-clockwise unscrewed (do not use the if it jams force it principle) from the pipe in the wall.  Unless there is a tiny s***w on the under side of the faucet near the bathtub/shower wall.  Older plumbing should not be tinkered with and it is best to call a plumber yada yada yada.  The part is not a big dollar item.

  5. Dont fix it.  It is not worth the time, effort and the expense (hiring a plumber or spare parts) of stopping the leak, which is, by the way, not much but just a trickle.  And the water goes into the tub anyway.

  6. the diverter valve is damaged....when u pull on it to open the shower it only open half way so water is coming out in 2 places.....is the diverter on the faucet....if so u need to replace the whole faucet.....if it between the hot and cold water handle then u need to pull it out and check the  gasket on the bottom and O rings....or replace the whole diverter cartridge

  7. You may need a new bathtub spot..turn on the water & pull up on the little spout button..It should direct the water to the shower.  It will return to the tub position when you turn off the water.
