Batman: Arkham City gets Deadshot subplot, set to be more investigative instead of action oriented
Rocksteady are the developers behind the eagerly anticipated comic book hero based video game, Batman: Arkham City.
They are also great at teasing people with news and announcements and when they finally do make an announcement, they are great at making sure everyone is surprised by it.
It seems they may have some Batman blood in them after all.
Even though Rocksteady began giving away snippets of details for the next game well over a few months ago, the studio has maintained a steady stream of bombshells and character reveals.
The caped crusader’s sidekick Robin was revealed, another playable character Catwoman was also announced soon after, Mr. Freeze, the Joker, Harvey “Two Face” Dent, the Penguin, Talia Al-Ghul, Solomon Grundy, Bane and Harley Quinn had all been confirmed to
feature in the game one way or another.
The Riddler would also be making a full on appearance in the game, after being mostly audio in the first game, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Hugo Strange has also been confirmed to feature in the game as well.
Entering the roster is one of the comic book world’s most renowned assassin’s, Deadshot.
Confirmed to be a side mission, with its own sub plot in the game, Batman will find a number of crime scenes throughout Arkham City where the world’s greatest detective will find clues as to Deadshot’s whereabouts and his ultimate goal.
According to the game’s Art Director, Batman’s snooping around will result in Deadshot making the caped crusader another target for the assassin as well.
The side missions will be more investigative in nature and will offer gamers a change of pace when it comes to the combat which the game had earned so much praise for.
In the trailer shown, Batman is interrogating someone who seems to be a thug, before he is shot dead by an unknown assailant. This leads to Batman entering his Detective Vision and he begins to search for clues.
It seems a nice touch and the fact that gamers are trying to emphasize on every element of the gameplay, giving each mechanic its own plot and character in a way, seems inspired.
The scary bit of news is the fact that Rocksteady stated that Deadshot was not the final reveal when it came to characters that would be in the game. Which has us and surely everyone else wondering, how many more characters are going to be in Arkham City
when the game comes out.
One thing is for sure though, the way Rocksteady are marketing the game, one can expect surprises and reveals even after the game is released.
