Batman: Arkham City gets another villain with a ‘mad’ hat – PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
Recent images found on the internet have revealed that another character will be featuring in Rocksteady’s upcoming game, Batman: Arkham City. For those readers who understood the ‘subtle’ hint in the title of the article, we would like to extend a ‘well
done’ to you.
As for those who are unfamiliar with the world of villains the caped crusader deals with on a daily basis, the latest character touted to be joining the already fairly extensive roster of characters in the game, (and cannot put the words ‘mad’ and ‘hat’
together) The Mad Hatter, will also be making an appearance.
There is one slight catch though, as for once, the reveal was not made by Rocksteady, but rather leaked onto the internet and found its way onto the hard disk drives of the ever-vigilant eagled eyed gaming community.
Appearing in an episode of Qore, all those who managed to see the video would have gotten a glimpse of the character that seems to have an obsession with Alice in Wonderland. Not Alice herself, but the novel written by Lewis Carroll.
We say ‘managed to’ because the video has been removed after someone realised they were showing something that was not supposed to be shown at that time. However, as the saying goes, ‘what once seen, cannot be unseen’, or rather in this case ‘what once hits
the net, cannot be removed completely’ as one website managed to upload a photo of the character.
The Mad Hatter now joins one of the largest character rosters for a Batman video game ever. The hat wearing villain joins the ranks of the Joker, Harvey ‘Two Face’ Dent, the Penguin, Talia Al-Ghul, Solomon Grundy, Dead Shot, Mr. Freeze, Hugo Strange, the
Riddler, Mr. Hammer, Bane, Harley Quinn and Catwoman.
Unlike other characters which either came with their own trailer or an announcement with some background info and what gamers can expect when they face them, the leaked nature of the Mad Hatter’s reveal means that very little is known as to how he will feature
in the game.
The Joker and Two Face are sure to be integral to the story with other characters doing their bit as well. Bane is rumoured to be assisting Batman, Catwoman has allied herself with the caped crusader and Dead Shot will provide gamers with side missions aimed
at bringing out the detective side of Batman.
There has been no word from Rocksteady on the matter yet, but it seems that gamers can expect a few more surprises before the game releases and a few more after that as well.
