Batman: Arkham City got Robin, more characters to be revealed soon
Rocksteady, the developers behind Batman: Arkham City seem to be having the time of their lives, as they continue to tease fans of both the Batman universe, as well as the fans of the game.
When asked if gamers could expect anymore characters joining the game’s cast, Dax Ginn, Rocksteady’s Marketing Director, teased, "We've got more announcements coming."
After that statement it becomes very clear how Mr. Ginn got the position; his marketing skills are commendable. Having already revealed that the Joker would be returning, Harvey “Two Face” Dent would feature, The Penguin, Calendar Man and Hugo Strange would
all be in the game, along with Catwoman as a playable character and two screenshots of Robin and the Riddler respectively, Arkham City looks set to be one well-endowed game when it comes to characters.
He also dropped a huge hint as to how gamers could expect the next few characters to be joining the game, as he explained they might just be retail exclusives.
“We're made announcements about Robin being a retail exclusive, a timed exclusive,” he said.
This could mean that certain characters would be unlocked if gamers pre-ordered from certain retailers, however, that is just speculation at this point and one never knows, maybe Rocksteady just want to give fans a satisfying experience.
When asked how long the studio was going to keep working on the Batman series, Ginn gave a very encouraging answer that would warm the hearts of any fan of the comic book hero. He explained that everyone at the studio were Batman fans and that they would
keep making the games as long as they felt like, or as he put it himself:
“We're big Batman fans. I know there are a lot of gamers out there who are also hardcore Batman fans, we get that every day from the community. So we're going to keep making (Batman games) as long as that motivation is there. We love what we're doing, we're
really focussed on October.”
Ginn continued, speaking like a true Batman fan when he explained that he wanted to make sure that every fan had something he always wanted in a Batman game, “I think this game is really going to satisfy the dreams people have had for a Batman game for a
long time.”
Batman: Arkham City seems to be a mouth watering prospect. With trailers and character reveals coming in steady flow and announcements being made at regular intervals, one can only assume that Rocksteady have only shown the gaming world, the tip of the iceberg.
Like the caped crusader himself, Rocksteady seem to like using the element of suspense, followed by the surprise and that is adding a nice added layer of anticipation for the game’s release.
