Batman: Arkham City leaked online, runs on modified Xbox 360s
Warner Bros. And Rocksteady have a bit of an issue on their hands as reports have emerged on the internet that the Xbox 360 version of their game has been leaked online and is available for download.
Both the game’s publisher and its developer have not responded to the news nor have they issued a statement as to whether the version that is appearing on torrent sites is in fact the final retail version of the game or not.
However, there is some evidence which seems to suggest that the file may very well be Batman: Arkham City in all its highly detailed glory as the format is reported to be XGD3.
For those who do not know that is the new disc format for the Xbox 360, which Microsoft had announced earlier on. It was designed to have a greater storage capacity than the previous DVD formats, so that developers could cram more video gaming goodness on
to the disc.
The file itself comes in at a hefty 7.94GB, which again is in line with the industry average when it comes to video games.
There is one catch though and that is the file can only be run on modded, or as the common man puts it: modified, Xbox 360s, which is a form of p****y in its own right.
It will be interesting to see how Warner Bros. Respond and whether or not they will take any action and ban players found with an illegal copy of their eagerly anticipated game.
The timing could not be any worse as well, with the hype for the game almost at its climax with the game set to release on the 18th of October in the United States of America and three days later on the 21st of October Europe.
The marketing campaign behind the Batman: Arkham City has been phenomenal with the studio announcing surprises on a regular basis and constantly bombarding fans with some stunning features in the game.
All the while, still managing to maintain an air of suspense and teasing that there is much more to come in the final version of the game.
The character roster is started off with a handful of characters and since then has gone on to become so mouth-wateringly vast and enticing, with characters such as Catwoman, Two Face, Robin, the Penguin and Dead Shot just a few of the names on the list.
The single player is set to last over 24 hours and the scale of Arkham City is also said to be four times that of its predecessor, Batman: Arkham Asylum.
It will be interesting to see if the leaked version of the game has any effect on the sales of Batman: Arkham City when it releases.
