Batman: Arkham City released before schedule in Australia, makes rest of the world jealous
Gamers in Australia can get their hands on a legitimate retail copy of Batman: Arkham City as two of the leading retailers decided to release Rocksteady’s eagerly awaited game a day earlier than scheduled.
Scheduled for release the next day, EB Games, an Australian video game retailer, decided to throw the official release date to one side and announced that the game was available for sale from their stores.
The announcement was made via the popular social networking site, Twitter with a Tweet that was just as entertaining as it was excitement inducing. It read, “Nanananananananana BATMAN!...Is on sale now #early #omgruntothestore.”
One can guess that is exactly what a number of gamers did. However, premature release move was quickly followed by another retailer in the region as GAME decided to release the game via their website.
This is one of those times gamers will wish they were in the Southern Hemisphere as Batman: Arkham City has received nothing but rave reviews from all the review sites and critics who have been fortunate enough to play the game.
It should be noted that only the console copies, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, of the game have been released as the PC version was delayed as the developers claimed that it needed more polish in order to live up to the same standards as its console cousins.
Arkham City is scheduled for launch on the 18th of October in the United States and will be followed by a release in Europe a few days later on the 21st of October.
The game has been hailed as one the greatest gaming experiences to make use of comic book franchise of all time and the hype has been almost unbearable for a majority of the gamers.
Boasting over 24 hours of single player storyline, not including the various sub-plots and side missions that the game has to offer, as well as one of the richest and deepest roster of characters anyone has ever seen in a Batman game, Arkham City ticked
all the right boxes in the build up to its release.
US retailer, GameStop, also announced that after reaching a deal with Warner Bros. the retailer will be offering pre-owned purchasers, of a copy of the game, with a free Catwoman content unlock code. The code would cost $10 on its own.
Also there seems to be plenty of content lined up for the game as a Robin DLC pack has been announced and the trailer seems impressive to say the least.
So while gamers in Australia get the opportunity to flaunt the caped crusader in the rest of the world’s faces, all everyone else can do is sit and wait.
