Batman: Arkham City set to hit PCs in November, Warner Bros. confirm
Gamers who use their PCs, as their primary source of deriving gaming pleasure, have something to cheer about as Warner Bros., have announced that Batman: Arkham City is set to launch on PCs in November.
Warner Bros. had announced earlier that the PC version of the game had been delayed indefinitely and that it would not be releasing alongside its console version cousins.
An explanation was later given by the game's developer, Rocksteady, who stated that they wanted to make the game perfect for each specific SKU (Stock Keeping Unit), namely the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
That meant extra tweaking for the PC version of Batman: Arkham City which resulted in the delay. What Rocksteady had not revealed was how long the game had been delayed for and when it would be releasing on PCs.
However, the developers have come out and announced that caped crusader will be making his second appearance on PCs on the 18th of November, which is a full month after its release on consoles in the United States.
It seems that for the time being, console gamers have the power to rub their experiences playing as the world’s greatest detective into the faces of their PC counterparts, in what is sure to be another gaming industry standard flame-war.
On the other hand, top end PCs seem to have overtaken consoles in terms of power and memory, so when Batman: Arkham City does come out on PCs, console gamers may be in line for a bit of a hammering of their own.
Whatever the case, very few seem to disagree with the statement that Rocksteady’s second foray into the Batman universe is an improvement from the stellar first. Review sites and critics have praised the game alike, claiming that it is the best ‘license
based game’ of all time.
While gamers in Australia and the United States need not wait any longer to purchase their console copies of the game, with the former getting the game a day earlier than scheduled thanks to impatient retailers in the land down under and the latter having
a release date of the 18th of October, gamers in Europe have to wait till the 21st of October before they can get themselves a copy of the game.
Boasting one of the deepest character rosters seen in any game, let alone one based on a comic book, Batman: Arkham City is one of the most ambitious gaming projects in its genre for some time.
It will be interesting to see whether gamers will agree with the critics as to how great an experience the game actually is, but even at this stage it is safe to say that very few will be left disappointed and even they will most likely be fans of the Marvel
line of comics.
