Batman Comic fans - This question is for you!!?

I don't usually read DC comics but I'm reading the graphic novel HUSH right now...

Which batman title was HUSH originally published in and what was volume number? I've heard that DS has a pre/post "crisis" storyline so is what happened in HUSH real or is it another timeline?

HUSH has a Batman/Catwoman storyline so I want to see how far it goes but I don't know what title to continue after the HUSH graphic novel.

Hush was it's own little batman series that got collected into a graphic novel.  I don't know about the crisis stuff (I think the crisis's are all a load of convoluted bullcrap).  

The best thing for you then would be to check out The Long Halloween after you finish hush.  They just work your way down to (in no particular order) Knightfall, The Dark Knight Returns, Arkham Asylum: Living h**l, The Killing Joke and the Man Who Laughs (make sure you read The man Who laughs AFTER the Killing Joke.)
