Bats birds electric wires?

why don't birds get electrified when they are on electric wires but do bats

When bats get electrocuted it is because they are touching 2 wires at once.  When they are electrocuted they are being killed by the current passing through them from one wire to another (Current kills not voltage).  When they are on 1 wire they are not creating a circuit. When they are touching 2 wires they are creating a path of a lesser resistance from 1 wire to the other.  When a person gets electrocuted by drilling through a cable for example, it is because they are creating a path of least resistance through themselves to earth.  This is the same as a bat spreading it's wings from a phase (an active) to Neutral (return path back .  A bat would get a more severe shock going from phase to phase as there would be a higher fault current.  I'll stop now I think.  Electricity is a big field.  Sorry if i've confused ya.  This is probably hard to understand without any electrical background

In order for something to be hurt by electricity, it must bridge a gap between an electrical source, and some sort of outlet for this electricity (ground, metal, etc...)  A person would get injured because electricity would be flowing through him to the ground, the crane lift, etc...  A bird, especially with their non conductive feet, do not have a way to transfer the power to another cable or to the ground so they are fine.  If a person grabbed onto a wire without touching anything else, they wouldn't be harmed either.  This is actually how they do repairs and changes in some places, especially when a helicopter is needed.  Fun huh?  As for bats, they may be injured if the have both feet connected because it may be easier for it to traver through the bat then that section of the wire, that I cannot tell you for sure.  I do know that bats dont have feet like birds, a bat's feet are covered in skin more like ours.  Sorry.
