  1. I can not believe how nasty you are, as you can't charge them any rent for your loft space, contact the local council and tell them the same thing, you will get rid of them any way you can (god help them) and hopefully they will find a designated area for them to have a life in safety

Your roof space is safe they sleep all day

Make sure next time all your orifices are blocked

  2. You cannot get rid of them they are protected by law (UK). They shouldn't cause any damage.

Talk to Enviromental Health at your local council.

  3. Are you a city dweller who's recently moved to the countryside?

    Get used to it!

  4. I thinks the bats should get rid of you for that comment! your a very bad person.!!

  5. They do absolutely no damage - the dung is dry and breaks down without causing any problems whatsoever.

You do not need to resort to killing them with a tennis racquet. They get confused in a room as there are so many objects to reflect the sonar. Hang a sheet up somewhere and wait for them to settle and then gently wrap them up and take them outside.

Bats are beautiful animals, endangered and do not in any way deserve to be persecuted or subjected to cruelty in any form. They do no harm and in fact do you a favour by reducing the biting insect population. They are also protected and you can be prosecuted for disturbing them - so leave them in peace, save yourself a criminal record and be a decent human being.

Don't take advice from an American respondent - you may not disturb them in the UK under any circumstances.

  6. 1st of all, what's with all the negativity here?! we don't know he's a bad person. He hasn't done anything wrong yet, just expressed an urgent need to rid his home of pests. I don't see any of you living with bats in YOUR roof spaces, so a quick chill out to all you bleeding hearts out there - I am a big animal lover as well, but that doesn't help him with his question.

Next, to answer the question - bats like cool, quiet places they can stay in during the day. They have to have only a few openings (for their safety and the safety of their young) and walls with hang-points, where they hang from to sleep and eat. So, if you can get into your roof space (wear a mask, breathing in guano, or bat droppings, can be toxic), I would recommend greasing the walls, heating the place up with a gas heater, putting up some loud speakers - simply making it highly unpleasant for the unwanted occupants (notice I DIDN'T say "hurt them" - that's just wrong).

I do recommend contacting local authorities - you may not give a rat's ***, but they're probably more equipped than you are to deal with it, and that'll save you some effort (plus you get to look like a good guy for calling).

Let me end this by saying you're quite a funny guy, buying a tennis BAT to deal with bats, but funny as it is, the correct term is tennis racquet .
