I have a new digital camera and I wanted to know what would be good batteries to use so the run long in between charges? They came with Duracell ultra and those obviously dont work. Also where can I get a good battery charger that charges only AA batteries? Only stores in or around Houston/ Missouri City Texas

  1. If you have a Harbur Freight tools store in your area, they are selling 4 packs of NiHZ batteries for around $4 to $6 a set. Batteries Plus and Wal-Mart are two other good souces. Look for batteries with at least a 2500 mah rating. H/F tools also has a smart charger for under $10. I have found the Rayovac brand to seem to last longer on a shoot then some of the others I have used.

  2. You can get battery charges at Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, Comp USA, and places like that. The best thing that you should have done was bought a camera with a lithium ion battery that you can recharge like a cell phone. Either way batteries that you charge still run down a lot.

  3. I'd recommend you get a charger and rechargeable NiMH batteries. These are much better for digital cameras than alkalines. They seem to last much longer than alkalines, and they don't drain as fast when left unused inside a camera. I'd recommend getting the hybrid NiMH batteries which keep their charge the longest. Take a look at Sanyo Eneloop or the Rayovac Hybrid (available at Walmart); these considered excellent batteries.
