Question:

Battery Charger or Battery?

As we all know, laptop batteries dont last forever. mine wont charge anymore, it always says 98%, even though its empty... how can i tell if its the charger or the battery without spending any money? I have the latest bios, and its not my installation, because i have tried reinstalling XP multiple times...

My computer is a averatec AV3250H1-01...

  1. the charger has nothing to do with your battery life.  If the computer stays on and doesnt use battery when plugged in it is fine.  Buy a new one on ebay. they are cheap and work great


  2. If the computer works without the battery in it, and the charger is plugged in, it's the battery (unless it is the motherboard charging circut, but that's $700 instead of $100).

    You can get the battery re-built at various battery rebuilding places, or attempt to to order a new one from a company like battery biz. The manufacturer might also have one for sale as well, but it will be more expensive than a third party company.
