I am using a Pavilion ze4145 laptop that was bought a few years ago. It was a friend of mine who gave it to me and said I could keep it if I could fix it, and get his data off of it. After solving several problems with the fan, ac cord, and BIOS, I was able to get the thing going.
However, the battery will not hold a charge and the status light is blinking amber. I went troubleshooting and tried everything the HP website had to offer. Nothing has worked. When I calibrate the battery, it takes only a few minutes when it should be taking several hours. I figure that it just won't hold a charge. It is a Lithium Ion battery so it shouldn't have the memory effect.
I don't know much about how the guy treated this computer before I got it, but am certain that even though he doesn't know much, he took the best care possible.
I am not looking to buy a new battery, but will if I need to, and if it's certain that the battery is the problem.
Battery icon shows 0% but when the adaptor is plugged in it shows its "plugged in and charging" but battery doesn't charge. 0% still shows for battery. When I unplug the AC adaptor laptop goes dead.I did not take any troubleshooting steps. I don't know what to do. Need help please.Kirahxan
