Battery help!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

so i has this toy and i left the battery's in it to say the least they leaked and it doesn't work any more i was hoping that you guys could tell me a few ways to get it to work again

I would try wipe'in all the infected parts with a moist rag

or you could try soaking it in water, letting dry and put new battery's in it but i would not do this unless everything else fails...
