Battery light keeps coming on!?

Ok, so a week ago, our "Charge" light came on. shortly there after, the car died while driving. We replaced the battery, and the alternator. All was fine for a couple days. On the way home from work, the car died again. this time, we noticed that the cable from battery to alternator wasn't connected. We connected it, got a jump and things were fine... for 2 days. today the "Charge" light came back on, but the car hasn't died yet. Got us home with no problems, other than the light being on... Any ideas for less that car savvy broke folks?

  1. I would take it to Advance Auto or Autozone for a FREE test of the battery and alternator.  I suspect the alternator is either not connected properly, or has failed.

  2. Sounds like you need to find a reputable repair shop - the combination of symptoms you have listed indicate the possibility of a loose or damaged connection in the wiring between the alternator and the battery.  Identifying the cause will require both skill and experience!

  3. try cleaning the connections on the battery and alternator .....bring car to autozone for them to put your car on a machine to check your charging system  ...alternator,battery,and starter the machine checks all of the above and autozone does this service for FREE that way you will know why or if you need to bring car to the shop

  4. Loosen the pos cable then start the car now pull the pos cable up and away from the connection, if the car dies its you alternator.  Other wise your battery could have a bad cell.  There is also a device at your local auto parts store that you plug in to your cig lighter and it will tell you if your batt or your alternator is working or how well.

  5. "Electrical IE; Wiring!" Clean, Inspect & Secure all Wires and the Alternator Ground Cable to the Block.
