Hi, I am trying to find a powerpack/personal power that will run on regular batteries (AA,C,D,etc) and will run either a AC or DC US plug.

Does anyone know of a thing that will work? I'm looking at charging a few cellphones & mp3 player when I have no power at all.

  1. I would recommend getting a solar battery charger. They are great for camping trips, hiking, biking, etc... They keep you from having to haul around a pile of batteries and can be used anywhere that has sun. They make lots of folding/portable ones that fit easily in a backpack pocket or briefcase. Here is a selection to look at or you can google "solar battery charger".

Edit Yes, the product you are looking for does exist. A few companies make battery packs, that use alkaline batteries, to recharge various portable electronics. The problem is that they don't work for c**p. The amount of power that can be transferred from a 6 or 8 AA battery pack is so low that it will only run a cell phone for an additional 30 minutes or so. To generate enough recharging power from alkaline batteries, you need a pile of them, especially for larger devices like laptops. The power to recharge a cell phone completely would take something in the neighborhood of 10 C cell batteries, and that's just for 1 single recharge. Unless you want to haul around 30 pounds of batteries for a 5 day trip, you have to use something else.

  2. power inverters do this very well  they can be bought at any walmart, circuit city , best buy...then buy a portable 12vdc supply with a lighter plug installed  this will work for days with no worries at all then when your with power charge the 12v source about 4hrs then your ready to go again....hope this helps
