Batting Coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 to hit big Test innings soon – Cricket News Update
Australia’s batting coach, Justin Langer, believes that the Aussie captain, Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, will soon start hitting big innings in Test cricket.
Clarke has not succeeded in lashing a ton since his 168 against the Black Caps in March 2010.
Moreover, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 batsman failed to produce anything special during his last Test outing, Ashes series 2010/11, collecting just 193 runs in five matches.
Yet, he came up with an excellent show in the recent ODI competition against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, emerging as Australia’s highest run-getter – 242 in five games.
Perpetuating his good run in the longest version of the game, he smashed a crucial 60-run-knock in the second innings and steered his side to glory in the first Test, held at Galle from August 31 to September 3, 2011.
The burden of captaincy did not inflict any pressure on the young skipper, as he remained calm and composed throughout his stay at the crease.
Despite the fact that Clarke has been enjoying great form these days, he is yet to transfer his fifties into big ones.
However, Langer believes that Clarke is not very far away from hitting a century as he is in terrific touch at the moment.
“I think it’s just a matter of time before he really cashes in. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s making some big runs, big hundreds soon,” said Langer who smashed 23 hundreds during his 105-Test-old career.
He also admired Clarke’s outstanding show with the bat in the opening Test, adding that Clarke’s recent good performances came as a result of his hard work that he did before coming to island.
“It’s as good as I’ve seen him bat at the moment. He’s done some hard work in the off-season, and these conditions are brilliant for him. He, along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Darren-Scott-Lehmann-c52487, are the best players of spin I’ve ever seen,” uttered the former Aussie
cricketer who is confident about his side’s chances to secure the Test series by beating the islanders in the second game, starting from September 8, 2011 at Kandy.
