Question:

Batting Practice Home Runs at MLB parks?

I went to see the Tigers and Indians a few weeks back, and there were guys that were getting like 4 or 5 balls and still trying for more.

AND the people were physically fighting for BP home run balls!!!

Why do people feel the need to get so many balls, and furthermore, why fight over it? Its just batting practice!

  1. At my first giants game, we went to watch batting practice and sammy sosa hit 3 balls into Mcovey Cove, the farthest I have ever seen a ball fly

  2. They want to sell them or probably collect them. Wouldnt you want a homerun ball hit by pudge

  3. It's practically easy at AT&T Park because of the wide expanse of the accessible front row all around the outfield.  Also, when left handers or pull hitting righties hit BP HR's over the right field fence to the water, the boaters will more than be happy to give you one that's hit.  Also, when pitchers are shagging balls in the outfield when stretching, they'll give you one as well.  Just ask politely in both cases.....

I was fortunate to catch one from Barry Bonds and Ken Griffey Jr. on top of the arcade (rt. field fence), one on the bounce outside the stadium from Barry Bonds before it hit the water and one by Ramon Martinez at the left field bleacher section.

  4. First off during BP less people are there so it sort of helps your chance of getting a ball. Second, during a real game no body knows if anyone is going to hit a home run, in BP the coaches are throwing to you and is much easier to hit a home run. In a real game where there are more people than BP the chances of you catching a ball foul or fair is like 5 to 100.

  5. dude any ball from an mlb game is amazing.  i hope to get 1 some day.  so idk what ur thinking.  but i would do it to.

  6. I say this in all seriousness: Probably drunk
