Batting failed us - Cheteshwar Pujara - Cricket News Update
After a below par tour of the West Indies, India A captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CA-Pujara-c1209 came to a quiet homecoming, where the  player admitted that they didn’t apply themselves according to the conditions.
India A had an average series in the Caribbean against the West Indies A team as they lost the unofficial Test series 1-2 and drew the T20s and ODIs. The Men in Blue left for the tour as the clear favourite with some big names in their batting lineup, and
were touted to give a tough time to a relatively unknown opposition.
Talking to the Indian Express, the Gujrati player said, “It was disappointing. Before going to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 we were expecting a good result because our batting was strong but I never expected us to struggle like this.”
The visitors had a batting lineup comprising of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WP-Saha-c2800 and skipper Pujara, all of whom had represented their national sides in either Tests or the One-Day Internationals.
However, no visiting batsmen managed to score a century in the series as they were exposed to the West Indian pace attack which ran through the Indian batting line over and over again.
“It was not an easy tour. Our top-five had played international cricket but I guess as a unit we failed to adapt to the conditions,” Pujara said.
While the skipper was the highest scorer for the unofficial Test series scoring 252 runs at an average of 50.40, he still had a poor showing in the T20s and the ODIs. Pujara also counted weather as a contributing factor in their failed batting, with the
pitches under prepared due to rain.
“There was a lot of rain so the pitches were not easy to bat on. Even between matches, because of the rain, the practice pitches were not prepared well,” the 24-year-old said, while admitting that excuses can’t be made at this level.
The right-hand batsman, who played three Tests for India, is looking forward to make his comeback into the national side, and was satisfied with his own outings on the tour of Caribbean.
“I scored three half-centuries. Now I hope to get a chance to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 again,” the India A captain concluded.
