Battlefield 3 assaults the PC Charts in the United Kingdom
It seems that there is a new number one every couple of weeks or so in the United Kingdom’s PC Charts. From Football Manager 2012 to F1 2011, almost every game that debuts seem to make its way to the top of the charts, yet did Electronic Arts’ highly anticipated
modern military first-person shooter follow that trend or did it disappoint like Pro Evolution Soccer 2012?
10. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm: one cannot seem to keep anything World of Warcraft related out of the PC sales charts as the expansion pack for World of Warcraft made its way back out of the abyss and back into the top ten.
9. Rage: another of Bethesda’s takes on the post-apocalyptic genre, Rage made a reputation for itself as a love it or hate it game. However, with another week of solid sales, it seems that there is still some love for the first-person shooter.
8. The Sims: Medieval: the expansion pack just does not know when to die, or in this case slip off the top ten places in the charts as it actually climbs a few places into eight spot.
7. The Sims: Late Night: whether it be because of the few people who made plans to stay in at Halloween or some global conspiracy, Late Night is still in the charts for another week running.
6. Stronghold 3: the first game to make its debut in the charts is Southpeak Games’ Stronghold 3, which did just enough to out sell two of the many Sims games in this week’s charts.
5. The Sims 3: Generations: readers should be accustomed to seeing a large number of games on the PC sales chart to have ‘the Sims’ written over them. Keeping to that trend, The Sims 3: Generations settles in at number five.
4. The Sims 3: the game that spawned the rest of its DLCs and expansion packs, the Sims 3, is still selling rather well and sees itself outside the top three places after a significant amount of time.
3. The Sims 3: Pets: the latest expansion to the Sims 3 universe, Pets is a unique take on the Sims genre as it allows gamers not only to have pets in the game but also to play as the pets themselves.
2. Football Manager 2012: Sega’s football management simulation title may have had a strong opening week the last time the charts came out but it seems that this week there is a new number one, again.
1. Battlefield 3: EA have declared Battlefield 3 as the fastest selling game in the company’s history. Therefore it comes as no surprise that it is topping the PC Charts in only its first week.
