Question:

Battling fatigue during pregnancy?

I am in my first trimester, and I am having a really hard time with general tiredness, which is also causing quite a lot of headaches, not to mention grouchiness. I know that sleep would be the ideal fix, but I also have a 2 1/2 year old who is taking shorter and shorter naps since moving from her crib to her "big girl" bed, and time for rest is hard to come by, especially since those precious moments of solitude are usually spent cleaning around the house, or preparing for the evening ahead.

Any tips to raise energy?

  1. Find a buddy! Really, you need as much rest as you can get right now, and you certainly don't want to take anything to boost your energy that might affect baby. Enlist a buddy, significant other, or family member who lives close by to take the little one off your hands or help out with housework so you can have your rest.

DH was a HUGE help for me in my first trimester. Granted this is my first one so I didn't have another to deal with, but he would work his 12 hour shifts, then come home to cook, clean, do laundry, vacuum... God bless him! It was only for a short time, so now I'm back on track.

    Good luck and congrats!

  2. I'm going through the same thing, trying to figure out if there is ANY way to raise energy levels.. The only thing that I have found semi-comforting, is keeping my eye on the prize... THE SECOND TRIMESTER.. You will get there.. Good Luck.

  3. I'm preggo with number 3 and due in Jan. My kids are 12 and 8. So what I can suggest is, take naps when she does. Try and get her to help u clean up her toys too. (My sister is preggo with her 2nd baby and due any time now and she has a 2 year old that she makes take a nap so that she can take a nap.) So try that and see if that works for u. What I did was took naps with my children too until they got a little older. U don't want to be run down in ur first trimester. Do u have any body that u trust to take her for a few hours? If so, I would do that. What about ur husband, can he watch her while u take a nap? What about some neighbors that u trust? Do they have any kids around her age? Do what u have to. Make it easy for urself. Good Luck sweetie....

  4. I am going through the same thing. I haven not wanted to do anything but lay around and I can't. My little girl is 12 months old. I also have started ahving headaches.  I was reading just to hang on and all the fatigue should be gone in about 6 weeks, but the bad thing is it will return in the last of the third trimester.
