Question:

Bay Window Help! Please Answer!

I have a bay window in my room about a metre and 10 cm across and a metre and 5 cm from top to bottom. I want someone to build one of those like bay window seats.

Ex: http://www.flickr.com/photos/26683476@N0...

I have wanted to do this for like 3 years but the only problem is I have a central air vent at the back, kinda like right under the middle window... Would it be possible to build this with the vent or should I just give up?

Thanks!

  1. You just need to extend the vent out into the area under the window and bring it through the face of the bay window seat. You can use pc. of metal wall stack duct - comes in 4' sections, also buy the appropriate wall boot and register. Measure for the ductwork- box stores should have everything you need.

Run your ductwork out past line of window seat. Then construct your window seat and cut off duct install boot and register before you put seat top framing on.

  2. The link to your picture is not working.

  3. Duct the air vent through the seat carcase: simply have a vent (transfer grille) in the front panel; or just have the window seat on legs and keep it open beneath.
