  1. Good and Bad. Bad because they are losing one of the greatest and most feared hitters in the game. Good because Manny is Manny and he says and does things that hurt the teams chances of winning. Also, like the fact that the red sox showed that they wont put up with his antics. However, I think they had a better chance of winning  the world series with Manny than with Jason Bay, nuthing against Bay but he is nowhere near as good a hitter as Manny.

  2. Short term, bad move. . .

Sox were exploited by a team that knew that they wanted to move Manny.  Thus they did not come close to getting equal value for Manny.

Long term, an ok move . . .

No more worries about Manny being a distraction, and even though the Sox gave up two major league quality players in Moss and Hansen, they had enough depth to make the move.  Also, Bay at 29 has a lot more upside than Manny at 37.

That being said, I would have been tempted to keep Manny and sit him if he didn't behave (we ended paying his salary anyways).  At least that way, you would have kept Moss, Hansen, and the draft choices you'd pick up if Manny walked at the end of the year.

  3. Good deal I was so tired of Manny being Manny

  4. It's good. I have always loved Manny, but he is 36 and uncontrollable. He does what he wants and can sometimes be a distraction. Jason Bay on the other hand is younger (29) and silent. He never does anything without thinking it through. He has comprable stats this season too. Only thing I didn't like about this trade is that we needed something else. We gave away Moss and Hansen, so it would have been nice to see us pick up a veteran reliever like Scott Proctor (LAD)  or even though he has only been in the league since 2004, Denny Bautista (PIT). That would stable our bullpen up a little bit. Overall, I think it was a move that Boston has needed to make for the last few years, and I'm glad that when they did they at least got decent value.

  5. Bad.  Because now the media won't talk about the Red Sox anymore.  They will shift there attention back to the Yankee's.

  6. Bad for Boston, good for the Yankees. And that, really, is all that matters!

  7. the force is strong within the Dodgers

  8. bad for boston

  9. i mean think about it now Manny is getting old and Bay is 7 years younger and manny is goin to be manny Bay Has more homeruns hes batting 282 22 HR and hes 29 its a very fine deal Sox Red Sox Will make the playoffs with jason bay!
