Bay of Plenty crushes Counties-Manukau in first round of ITM Cup- Rugby News
Bay of Plenty has beaten the Counties-Manukau in the first round of ITM Cup 2011 after a slow start in the match. The Bay of Plenty overcame the Counties by 20-13, on July 17, at Bayer Growers Stadium. Dan Waenga scored 10 points for Bay of Plenty in a low
scoring game and helped the steamers with their first victory in the competition.
The Bay of Plenty snatched the win from the jaws of Counties after a tough contest. The score was level in the second part of the game and a timely five-pointer by Toby Arnold saw his team on top of the score board in the end.
The Streamers were looking sharp in the field and managed to score first try of the match with the help of Daniel Perrin. Meanwhile, the Steelers, who competed well against the Streamers in the first-half, could not add too many points to their total in
the second-half. They had ended the first-half with 13-10 and managed to score just three points after the interval.
Bay of Plenty will face Waikato in the next round of the ITM Cup, whereas the Counties-Manukau will face Manawatu.
