Baybayin script in the Philippine school?

Baybayin is an ancient form of writing in the Philippines . It is a little bit similar to indonesian script and other neighbors.

    in some phil literature, or history or anthro courses they do.

    but no, they don't teach it in high school


  2. Baybayin script is not used in any Philippine schools, except if you're mastering in some fields like Philippine Language, History, Archeology, etc.

    Here is a short TRIVIA regarding your question:

    Tagalog was written in an abugida called Baybayin prior to the arrival of the Spaniards in the 16th century. This particular writing system was composed of symbols representing three bowels and 14 consonants. Belonging to the Brahmic family of scripts, it shares similarities with the old KAWI script of Java and is believe to be descended from the script used by the Bugis in the Sulawesi. Although it enjoy a relatively high level   of literacy, the script gradually fell into disuse in favor the Latin alphabet during Spanish colonial rule.  

  3. we used to memorize baybayin script on my own when i was still in grade school.  just to be able to communicate in codes with other classmates.  

    is it thought in school, unfortunately it is not.
