Bayer Leverkusen midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011. He rued missed opportunities in the match and was disappointed
of conceding two quick goals which led to the loss.
Werkself lost 3-1 to Valencia and missed the chance to qualify for the knock-out stage of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The club is still in second place in the Group-E standings with six points and are still one point
ahead of the Spaniards with two games remaining.
Ballack claimed that the side came under a lot of pressure in the second-half and conceded two goals in nine minutes to go 3-1 down. He admitted that the team was careless at times and were rightly punished for their actions in
the end.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 player insisted that Leverkusen will have to improve if they need to progress further and have to correct their mistakes.
"We get put under pressure and in doing so concede unnecessary goals. At that point it ruins everything we've diligently been working towards. We've got to learn from that. In one or two situations we were just too naïve and at
this level that gets punished immediately," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Ballack’s teammate Bernd Leno stated that Bayer Leverkusen still have a very good chance of qualifying for the next round and have to do well in their remaining games. However, he added that for now the team’s focus will be on
the Bundesliga on beating Hamburg so that they can keep up to the top-four in the standings table.
“We're definitely still in it. We are more than capable of picking up points at home to Chelsea and away to Genk. It's never easy switching between the Bundesliga and the Champions League. We'll give our all to beat Hamburg and
we'll see what happens,” Leno concluded.
Werkself have to play Chelsea at the BayArena and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-c40298 Genk at the Cristal Arena in Genk in the remaining two fixtures in the UEFA Champions League.
