Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Rene Adler is set to undergo knee surgery on Wednesday, July 13th. The player suffered a tendon injury in Leverkusen’s friendly clash against Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.
Werkself won the clash 4-0 at the Bay Arena in Leverkusen but faced a huge blow as their first choice shot stopper suffered an injury which could keep him out for the start of the season. The player will face a race against time
to be deemed fit before the Bundesliga campaign starts in just over three week’s time.

Rene Adler revealed that a surgery is the best possible situation for the injury now and stated that this would be the best possible time for it to go through as there are still over three weeks for the season to start. He admitted
that the incident is unfortunate for him and the club but remained confident of an early return to guide his club to a successful campaign once again.
“In order to have a problem-free season, surgery is unfortunately inevitable,” the player was quoted as saying in an interview.

but was hopeful Adler would return in time.
