Bayer Leverkusen intend to retain both Rene Adler and Bernd Leno – Bundesliga News
Having impressed one and all since his arrival from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 during summer, Bernd Leno is possibly on the verge of signing a new deal with Bayer Leverkusen. The club also intend to retain Rene Adler, who has been tipped to leave at the end of this season.
Leverkusen president Wolfgang Holzhauser has insisted on extending Adler and Leno’s contracts with the club. The CEO applauded Leno’s efforts since his arrival at BayArena.
The goalie came from Stuttgart on loan to stand in for the injured Adler and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166. The officials decided to bring Leno on-loan,
whose contract is due to expire at the end of this year in December.
Holzhauser told that the club are thinking of extending Leno’s stay after impressive performances since his arrival. The youngster has already won thousands of heart with his exquisite displays both in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
The fellow players have also called on for Leno’s extension, a decision which is yet to be confirmed by the shot-stopper himself. The 19-year-old, though, has already stated his desire to extend his stay at BayArena.
Stuttgart officials, on the other hand, are unlikely to let the teenager make his deal permanent at Leverkusen.
Wolfgang was talking after his side’s 2-2 draw against the last season’s relegation contenders, Borussia Monchengladbach. The two teams clashed on Saturday, October 15, at Borussia-Park.
Further talking about both the goalies, Holzhauser enthused, "We would like to buy him, if Stuttgart are willing. We will talk to VfB next month. We want to extend his [Adler] deal, and in the next few weeks we will make Rene a reasonable, longer-term offer."
The president concluded the talks by confirming of Adler’s expected new deal in a week’s time. "We had given him a counter offer on the contract request his agent made. The counter offer was dated for 2013. Rene will soon receive from us an offer for more
than a year."
Leno has so far stood in all the games for Bayer since taking over from Giefer during summer. The player is highly likely to extend his stay, following his regular first team appearances at BayArena.
