Bayer Leverkusen manager Robin Dutt has stated that his team is well capable of putting up a good display against English giants Chelsea. He claimed that it will be a difficult task but remained confident that hi side will be able
to get something out of the match.
Werkself face Chelsea in the first match of the group stage on Tuesday at Stamford Bridge. The German side will make the difficult trip after a brilliant 4-1 away win against FC Augsburg on Friday in the Bundesliga.
Dutt insisted that his side definitely has a chance in the Champions League fixture against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and is confident that his team will be able to get a result. He also admitted that returning to the competition
would be a huge morale booster for the club and that they will look to make full use of the opportunity.
“I do think we actually have our chances here, even if it will be fairly difficult. We are looking forward to this match. Being back in the Champions League is very important for all of us, players, managers and coaches,” he was
quoted as saying in an interview.
The manager added that there are a lot of young and talented players in the current squad who are relatively inexperienced and playing in the Champions League would be a huge test for them. He insisted that the players are determined
after a series of excellent results in the past few weeks and hoped that they would be able to perform to the full potential.
“We have a lot of young and inexperienced players, and, for them, it is really very special playing there tomorrow. We have respect for Chelsea, which is definitely necessary, but we are trying not to have too much. I think we
can use our emotions to turn it into a positive energy for ourselves,” he concluded.
