Bayer Leverkusen manager Robin Dutt defends Andre Villas-Boas
Bayer Leverkusen manager Robin Dutt has defended his Chelsea counterpart Andre Villas-Boas ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash between the two teams. He stated that the London giants have to be patient in their approach and
should give the tactician some more time as he has the quality to become a great.
Werkself will face Chelsea at the BayArena in a group stage clash on Wednesday night. They will be looking to secure their third win of the campaign against the Blues after suffering two losses already. The team will go top of
the table with a victory and will leapfrog http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 to first place.
Dutt backed Villas-Boas after rumours that the manager is close to facing a sack due to a lack of results in the past few weeks. He claimed that Chelsea should give the Portuguese tactician some time as he definitely has the quality
which he proved during his time at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462 boss predicted a bright future for the current Chelsea manager and stated that he would need time to settle in with his best combination.
“He has achieved quite a lot with Porto and, if Chelsea pay 15 million Euros for a coach, they must consider it worth it. He's well respected, has made a good reputation, and his quality is there to see. He'll do well at Chelsea,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Dutt admitted that the London giants are going through a rough patch at the moment but is wary of the attacking threat they can cause with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044. However, he is hopeful of a home win against
the opposition and wants to qualify for the next round as soon as possible.
“We know that Chelsea really aren't doing that well at the moment. That doesn't make them any worse - we have respect for their players - but they're under certain pressure, too. We're hoping to perform and secure a win tomorrow.
I believe that my lads can do this,” he concluded.
Bayer Leverkusen recently won their Bundesliga fixture against FC Kaiserslautern with a 2-0 score line.
