Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, Tranquillo Barnetta, has admitted he could leave the German giants in this summer’s transfer window. He stated that he wants to face a new challenge in his career and he feels this is the right time to move.
The midfielder scored both the goals for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016 in the 2-2 draw against England at Wembley Stadium in a Euro 2012 qualifier on Saturday, June 4. The visitors were leading 2-0 in the first-half as Barnetta scored from two free-kicks in a matter of three
minutes. The home side eventually managed to finish the game with a draw but the midfielder’s performance was widely applauded.
The player insisted that he has always dreamed of playing in the Premier League along with the Serie A and the Spanish La Liga. He stated that he wants to face a new challenge in his career and hoped that his performances for his country did not go unnoticed.
However, the midfielder also admitted that he has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen until the end of 2012 and could well honour it.
“I've always said that [playing in] http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 has been a dream of mine for many years now. We know that international games are always closely watched. I am now very relaxed on vacation. I still have one year left on my contract
with Leverkusen,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Sankt Gallen player did not have a great season with Bayer Leverkusen as a ligament injury had kept him out for most of the campaign. He also praised former Werkself manager, Jupp Heynckes, for helping him with the rebuilding process.
“Certainly the second half was not optimal. I came back from an injury and that is always difficult. I was glad I could still make a few games. Jupp Heynckes is a coach who rebuilds players slowly after injury,” the Swiss international concluded.
Barnetta made 23 appearances for the Leverkusen side, scoring two goals and accumulating four assists in the process.
