The German club has confirmed that they are not eyeing the Manchester United striker in the summer transfer window.
Bayer Leverkusen CEO, Wolfgang Holzhauser, has stated that Werkself do not intend to bring http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 for possible negotiations
either with Leverkusen or Bayern Munich officials.
However, Holzhauser has insisted that the club never thought of bringing back the striker, having sold him to Tottenham Hotspur in 2006.
The Chairman added that the club is currently focusing on the season’s second-half and are not willing to sign any new players. He stated that he won’t rule out a few transfers at the end of this season, but the current focus only
lies with the upcoming league game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 on Sunday, January 22.
While talking to local newspaper, Express, the Chief Executive further mentioned:
"I have been reading that Dimitar (Berbatov) would have flown over to Frankfurt and that we would be in for him there to negotiate a transfer. That was interesting news to me. I am clearly out to never say never, but this is nothing
we are looking forward to at this point in time.”
On the other hand, Berbatov’s agent, Emil Danchev, admitted that his client’s transfer was never on the cards during the ongoing winter transfer window. He insisted that the press could say anything, and he does not feel the need
to make comments on the speculation until there is something finalised at both ends.
"Usually I don't comment on speculation from the press. They can say whatever they want. But the only thing that I can say is that at this moment the eventual transfer of Berbatov to another club is not on the agenda," the agent
concluded.
Berbatov has seen limited action so far this season at Old Trafford mainly because of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Welbeck’s arrival from Sunderland. However, the attacker recently collected a hat-trick against Wigan Athletic and a brace against Blackburn
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 which is an indication that the attacker still has some years left in him, and could get an extended deal at Old Trafford prior to the end of this campaign.
