Bayer Leverkusen set to welcome FC Nurnberg’s Philipp Wollscheid to BayArena - Bundesliga News
Last season’s Bundesliga runners-up, Bayer Leverkusen, are all set to welcome FC Nurnberg’s Philipp Wollscheid to BayArena prior to the start of next season. The news has been confirmed by the Leverkusen CEO, Wolfgang Holzhauser.
The player would be available to the club until 2017 and will resume his services from next season.
Leverkusen manager, Robin Dutt, expressed delight at the player’s recruitment, hoping to see him flying high at BayArena. He regarded it a welcome sign from the club’s point of view and wished Wollscheid all the very best for his future.
He admitted to the fact that Bayer hadn’t been doing too well since the start of 2011/12 campaign, but vowed to get things back on track before the season expires.
The Werkself CEO, on the other hand, congratulated the concerned authorities for the successful transfer despite the hurdles. He expressed delight on acquiring the services of a talented defender, and guaranteed him a place in Robin Dutt’s starting XI.
While talking to the club’s official website on the player’s transfer, Holzhauser further stated:
"We are firmly convinced Bayer 04 have signed one of the most talented and best central defenders in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 in Philipp Wollscheid. He's got great potential and will make a decisive contribution to strengthening our defence."
It is believed that the Nurnberg officials were left with no choice after receiving a competent offer from Leverkusen. Der Club previously had previously fixed a price-tag for the youngster, informing all the interested clubs to make an offer in that region
in order to recruit Wollscheid.
Wollscheid also received praise from Nurnberg sporting director, Martin Bader. He wished him success at his new club and wished to have retained the talented centre back for at least another season.
"Philipp told us about his desire to move in an open and honest discussion. After extensive and constructive talks over recent weeks, our expectations have been met by the offer made to us by Leverkusen." Bader concluded.
