Bayer Leverkusen’s Rene Adler almost certain to leave during summer - Bundesliga News
The long term Patellar tendon tear has become a major cause of frustration for Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper, Rene Adler, who is expected to leave BayArena during the summers.
Adler’s place was temporarily taken by VfB Stuttgart goalie, Bernd Leno, who has now been permanently recruited by the club until 2017.
Following the permanent signatures of Leno until 2017, futures of goalkeepers Rene Adler and Fabian Giefer certainly look bleak at BayArena.
Adler was previously the first choice shot stopper before getting injured. His place was taken by Fabian Giefer who got injured in the season’s first game against Mainz, prompting the club to call for Stuttgart’s reserve keeper, Bernd Leno.
Ever since taking over the gloves at BayArena, Leno has taken no time to justify his selection and produced some stunning displayes.
The Werkself sporting director, Rudi Voller, recently came up with an official bid for the goalie and Stuttgart surprisingly gave in to the offer.
Voller made an offer in the region of 7-8 million euros which was gleefully accepted by the Swabians.
The Swabians officials had previously declined Leverkusen’s request for the player’s permanent transfer but were forced to decide in their favour after Leno’s desire of continuing with the BayArena outfit.
The shot stopper reserved applause for Stuttgart officials at respecting his wishes and helping him throughout his tenure at Mercedes-Benz-Arena.
With the permanent appointment of Leno, Adler will hardly get any opportunity between the posts.
The fellow Bundesliga clubs, VfL Wolfsburg and Schalke, have already shown interest in Adler’s acquisition. and after spending the better part of seven years at BayArena, the 26-year-old is tipped to leave during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Adler has also been unlucky with untimely injuries, which have become a source of frustration for the German international.
He was initially selected for the 2010 FIFA World Cup but had to opt out at the last minute following a knee injury. The player was later replaced by Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer.
Adler started this season on the sidelines and was expected to take his place back on his return, but Leno’s outstanding reflexes have permanently closed doors on the 26-year-old.
