Bayer Leverkusen’s Rene Adler hoping to make a swift recovery after surgery- Bundesliga news
Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Rene Adler has stated that he looking forward to making a swift recovery after the knee surgery. The German international claimed that he would not make an early return as it could be more dangerous
and wants to make a full recovery before he makes a comeback.
The shot stopper suffered a tendon damage during a pre-season friendly against Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg earlier this month and had to undergo surgery to get fit. The player’s injury came at a crucial part of the year when
the season is about to start in the first week of August.
Adler claimed that he could be back in September or October and it depends on how the recovery and the rehabilitation go. He insisted that he would not rush his return as he does not want any other problem in the remainder of the
season. The goalkeeper added that he would wait until he fully recovers and then only he will make his comeback.
“My goal is September / October, although I'm not fond of such forecasts. I have not even started with the rehab operation. One thing is clear: I do not make the mistake and start early. I take the time that I need,” he was quoted
as saying in an interview.
The 26-year old admitted that he has had a history of injuries but claimed that he has been fit for a long time and the knee injury he suffered recently was rather unfortunate. He added that there have been players who suffer injuries
which end their career but remains confident that he will not be one of them.
“I have a certain history, yes. But I am still without any injury problems returned. Most of the injuries make one happen for the worst possible time, even more. I make myself at least not crazy,” he concluded.
Rene Adler has so far made 173 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen in his five years with the first-team squad. The shot stopper also has 10 appearances for the national side.
