Bayer Leverkusen’s Rudi Voller extends stay at BayArena – Bundesliga News
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has recently extended his stay at BayArena and will render his services until 2017. The former Leverkusen boss wishes to lead his side to a much awaited Bundesliga title.
Voller was recently handed a contract extension by Leverkusen which was gleefully accepted by the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 legend. The higher Werkself officials were impressed by Voller’s method of handling responsibilities and therefore decided to honour him with an extended
stay at the club.
The sporting director showed gratitude to higher authorities for entrusting him with his current role and vowed to perform even better during the upcoming period. At the same time, he expressed desire to lead Bayer to a long awaited Bundesliga title after
coming so close last season, where they finished runners-up behind Borussia Dortmund.
Voller’s current deal was set to expire at the end of the current 2011/12 season but the Werkself decided to continue with the veteran. The 51-year-old, in one way or the other, has been connected with the BayArena outfit for the last 15 years, which prompted
Voller to extend his stay at Leverkusen.
While talking to Bild on his recent contract extension, the former Werder Bremen striker further mentioned:
"I have now, with some interruptions, been connected with Bayer Leverkusen for well over 15 years, and I feel at home here. We have achieved a lot in that time, especially in sporting terms, but we must always look ahead.”
Rudi further reinstated his wish of leading Bayer to the Bundesliga crown for which the fans have been waiting for some time now.
Leverkusen president Wolfgang Holzhauser congratulated Voller on his new deal and wished him best of luck for the rest of his stint. He also backed Rudi’s desire of the Bundesliga title and further urged him to lead the Werkself at least into the last-eight
of the ongoing UEFA Champions League.
The president concluded his remarks by enthusing, "We blend very well as a team. Together we aim to bring the club to a high level. This undoubtedly includes the continuous modification of our team. We want to finally bring a title back to Leverkusen."
Leverkusen are currently eighth in the Bundesliga and will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 on Saturday, November 5.
