Bayern Munich 6-0 FC Ingolstadt - DFB Pokal recap
Bayern Munich got back to winning ways on Wednesday after 6-0 drubbing of the 2. Bundesliga outfit FC Ingolstadt. The two clubs locked heads for second round of the DFB Pokal game on Wednesday, October 26, with Bayern progressing through to the third round.
The Bundesliga giants went into the game as favourites and were on their toes from the very first minute. Ingolstadt had no answer to Bayern’s attacking display and hardly created any opening throughout the 90 minutes.
Jupp Heynckes rested Mario Gomez for Wednesday’s game but still managed to record a thumping win over the opponents. Nils Petersen replaced Gomez and grabbed a brace, once again justifying his worth in front of the officials.
Even though Bayern were dominant throughout, they took long to break the deadlock. Thomas Muller opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, much to the delight of a capacity crowd present at Allianz-Arena. The visitors played a decent first half despite
being under pressure from the first minute.
Ingolstadt never managed to break forward as Bayern’s defence stood idle, watching their teammates going forward on a regular basis. Though Die Schanzer did not manage to break free inside the first 45 minutes, to their credit, they still went into the dugout
trailing by a slender 1-0 margin.
Munich, on the other hand, underperformed during the first period, which they rectified to some extent in the second half. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Alaba-c10416 doubled his side’s advantage right after the restart with a ferocious strike on the 49th minute mark.
Four minutes later, Nils Petersen scored his first goal of the game to make the score line read 3-0. The Reds eventually found their feet, causing havoc in the visitors’ ranks. Die Schanzer tried their best to limit Bayern’s opportunities but to no avail.
It was Petersen again in the 71st minute, belting the ball past Ingolstadt keeper, Sascha Kirschstein, to complete his crace. Marvin Matip added insult to the injury by scoring an own goal in the 82nd minute to take the match further
away from Ingolstadt grips.
Another one of the Japanese star, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Takashi-Usami-c34524, snatched a last gasp goal to further pile misery on Benno Mohlmann’s side.
The Bavarian giants eventually emerged 6-0 winners on the night, progressing through to the third round.
Bayern are already enjoying a reasonable 2011/12 campaign and are atop the league table with 22 points from 10 games. They will next be in action against their local rivals, FC Nurnberg, on Saturday, October 29, at Allianz-Arena.
Jupp Heynckes’ men are also leading the Champions League Group A with seven points from three games and will return to European action on Wednesday, November 2, against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003.
